Main casts: Liyana Jasmay, NAS-t, Ezani, Juliana Evans & Zeyna
Salam,
It was a sunny morning when my sis and I had to be at SRJK (T) Vivekananda in Jalan Templer, PJ for the shooting of KAMI (a new TV series by Red Communications). It is an 8 episode TV mini series about some close friends from high school (the main casts) going through the challenges of growing up. Some sort of Dunia Baru (which is one of my favourite Msian teen TV series I must say coz it’s so logical on the aspects of the REAL college life) but of course KAMI has it’s own uniqueness. I just think it is more over the edge and the issues are just heavier.
My sis and I went for the audition in June if I am not mistaken, we were hopeful to get some bigger roles coz it was exciting after the audition when the directors asked excitedly regarding to our schedule (konon-konon dapat sangat la tu).. but he looked a bit upset when we said we’re resuming college in July (so bye-bye bigger roles) because it would be impossible to shoot almost everyday if we have to go to class..meaning cannot commit 100% for the shooting. No problem, anyways, studies should be the priority.
However alhamdulillah.. both of us got minor roles for the 1st episode where we had to become students. Yes I was 17 year old for that day, and I was still not the eldest in reality (sorry Andrea n Linda u girls are older than Moi) :p We had to do the shooting at this school because it was opened on that particular Saturday, where they had a replacement school day. There was about 50 extras I think to play the roles of high school students. However to see the original students of the school, of course primary school students, it was adorable to see them scattered around all excited to see what we were doing. Some even said "Akak…Hi…Hi.." in a cheeky way which I found adorable :p
Basically during the scene that we had to do, my sis and I and few supporting roles had to sit in a group with 3 of the bigger roles whom were 2 new faces and of course the well-known talented Liyana Jasmay as the main role. Liyana was a junior of mine in SMK Taman Melawati, I’ve known that she has started acting seriously since she was in school, and I must admit that she is a natural. I even adored her characters in previous movies which I think are difficult ones. Just too bad our memory card was broken, so couldn’t use the camera or else I’d love to have a photo with her and the other casts.
Alright, coming back to the scene, the main roles played the characters of best friends whom had this illegal business in school where they provided notes and homework for other students to copy including the prefect. Yes my sis and I did the copying of the homework. And we had to copy English homework oh how embarrassing. Not like my English is the Queen’s English standards..but I don’t think I have to come to the extent of copying other’s homework :p But that is acting, we’re not ourselves and that is the fun part.
I love to be involved in drama shooting etc.. but it would always be tiring. Like thi s time, we dragged until about 2 hours late, and while shooting of course you have to repeat the same movements and expressions again and again for the cameraman to capture it from different angles. Now I believe why they said that editing is a tough work to do, because you have to view the same scenes again and again to choose the best shot that you finally would take. However I like to do this, coz it’s for me to build my network, gain new experiences and yes have some extra pocket money. Not much but I feel good earning on my own.
The shooting started at around 11.30 (which was supposed to start at 8-9am) and finished around 4pm. Just for that 1 scene. No wonder my sister slept in the car when I drove her to her French class. Life is tiring, but if it’s for a good sake.. why refuse? And we’re still young, so do it now
* KAMI will be aired starting on Wednesday, 5th September, 9pm 8TV.
