Balik Kampung!!
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007Salam,
On Sunday morning, 27th May 2007, Ayah phoned me telling that he wants to bring us back to his hometown Pengkalan Pegoh, Pasir Putih, Perak for a day trip. He said that it’s going to be nice since he just returned from the States, so that would be a great opportunity for us to spend our time together while visiting my Opah and relatives in Ipoh. I usually hesitate when he talks us into going back to visit them, since my parents’ divorce, things had been real tough, but since Ayah has changed to the better a bit for now, I just thought I should be fair to him as well.
When Ayah came I was so excited coz I cannot deny I missed him badly. Ayah came with the exact Coach Barretta sneakers that I wanted
For Nana, since he didn’t manage to get her the Vaans sneakers that she asked for, he bought a pair which looks almost the same, and another green one for her with Pandas printed on them.. giving the illusion like they are a bunch of flowers. For the mascaras that Nana asked from Ayah.. he bought 5 of them :p
Around 9.30 am we left home, then we had breakfast in Rawang R&R. After that, as I was hoping and expected.. he asked me to drive his brand-new Nissan Murano..I was ecstatic! I knew that driving with Ayah & without Ummi is a great combination for the one who loves to speed :p Ayah sat next to me.. and he approvingly asked me to drive on the first lane at about 140-160km/h… I was in heaven~ :p I think the craze for driving runs in the family.. except for Nana the youngest from all of us ‘kandas’ in her driving test..hehe takpe Na cuba lagi ye dik
However one cool thing about Ayah’s driving habits is that he would always give the first lane to the car behind us if it wanted to go faster than us, and he always kept his distance..and braking should be smooth.. changing lanes should be smooth. .in other words he’s really good in maneuvering the car. Most of the time.. we spoke about the correct manners in driving..dengan erti kata lain pemanduan berhemah la.. I had a really good time. We reached Ipoh around 1130am.. Ayah said I drove fast like him and I replied "Yela, Yong tau ayah tak suka drive slow" he smiled and said "That’s my girl." Man I felt damn proud, and Nana told me "Banyak bodek ayah ek." I just laughed.
We went straight to Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Club, where Ayah wanted to experience for the first time the Golf set he bought in US. Actually he got them as a complimentary gift from the PGA sponsors..which he received an invitation for the tournament. So guys, my dad did witness Michelle Wee and Paula Creamer in person. Lucky dude :p While Ayah was on the driving range, Nana & I just relaxed, read some novels but actually most of the time we cracked ourselves by our lame, silly stories. I kept trying to leak the information of Sumolah..Nana got agitated tried to block me by singing loudly while putting her fingers in her ears so she couldn’t hear a word I was saying.
Next we went to Maksu’s house which was nearby, Opah and many other relatives came then. For the first time I fell, I was not furious for what had happened, though inside I still feel the pain, but I just don’t want to show it anymore, I just want to be happy. Opah cried as usual, thinking about my mother, I just told her, it’s ok Ummi’s fine now just don’t expect her to act all normal because she’s the injured party. I just tried to be reasonable on all sides, instead of talking more about the sadness, I produced to her the gifts Ayah bought for them in Bandung. At least that made them happy, and actually making others happy would never fail to make you smile although these people might have hurt you before. Sometimes you just have to allow the bitter things to pass you.
Maksu, I was not sure whether she was expecting to feed an army camp or what, but she prepared A LOT of food for us. She cooked..ok let me list this down:
1) Rendang Ayam
2) Gulai Ikan Masak Lemak Cili Api
3) Ikan Baung Masak Gulai Tempoyak
4) Sup Tulang
5) Sotong Masak Sambal
6) Daging Masak Merah
7) Sayur Campur
Sekali pk.. rasa cam mau kalah menu wedding Datuk CT & Datuk K ni…hehe..
Later.. she served us fruits.. Rambutan, Mangoes, Honewdew, Watermelon, Lychee and even cooked us Bubur Keledek. Not enough with that, in the evening she served us Beehoon Hailam. Anyone who desires to gain weight should really come to my kampung you see
After that, Ayah brought us cousins to a small stall under the trees by the roadside which sold Ayor Nyior Mude (Coconut Juice).. the place was so humble, old-skool bangat but I loved it. The seller sold each coconut for RM2.. and that gave me the inspiration of doing this business in KL. Haha like Nana said, we both are crazy bout money, but we don’t ask people to give us but we love to EARN. We made some silly plans that we only have to buy a pick-up truck, some spoons and of course coconuts to buy the business. Nana said I’m going to be the man-power source in chopping the tops of the coconuts and she’ll wear nicely to attract guys to our stall :p We even made the joke that since I am a fast driver, I should consider to be a long distance lorry driver since it makes lots of money..haha shallow-minded sisters :p
The day ended when we left Ipoh at about 6.30pm.. I had a good feeling for visiting them. This time, to my disappointment Ayah decided to drive coz he said I might be tired. But then I thanked him coz the traffic was terrible anyway so no fun to drive on highways :p When Ayah dropped us at home, as usual he kissed the both of us. By the way he’s the only one in my family that calls me ‘Yang’ or Sayang.. and I would always cherish that
* Speeding on the highways is fun but it is also a responsibility, never ever be reckless.. don’t be like the entirely unharmed Trailer driver whom had killed 7 members of a family and injured another 2 people coz he crashed the cars which were queueing to pay the toll fare at Alor Setar yesterday.. Al Fatihah…
